Leadership Development Program Success Story - Amanda Morris

Chick-fil-A served as a wonderful opportunity to provide a place for me to work while I was on a scholarship at a school nearby. I began with the mindset of being able to work in a place that aligned with my values and provide a source of income. As I began to invest more of my time and get to know the others I worked with and how they positively impacted my life, I knew there was something more for me here. I was a Pre-Law student at college and yet I realized by working at Chick-fil-A that I had chosen to major in Pre-Law because it aligned with my passion for helping others. As the leaders within Chick-fil-A cultivated the leader within me and nurtured and developed that side of me, I began to realize that I also had to honor the underlying passion within me of owning my own business.

After graduating, I had the opportunity to become a Certified Trainer with Chick-fil-A Inc. Serving as a trainer in Grand Openings was what solidified my decision to pursue Chick-fil-A as my future career. Working with other Chick-fil-A employees and seeing the culture of Chick-fil-A that stretched beyond my store was a testament to the organization and one I wanted to be a part of.

Having the opportunity to serve as the Operations Director and Director of Financial Return at Chick-fil-A Murfreesboro Towne Centre proved to have the most impact and most valuable results on my growth and development as a leader. Both of these roles allowed me to take a step out of daily operations and look at the business from a different perspective. As Director of Financial Return I was able to create and refine systems with my leadership team and see the impact each decision had on the business.

In 2015, I was accepted into the Leadership Development Program with Chick-fil-A Inc. As part of the leadership development program I had the opportunity to work with operators all across the country as they opened their own Chick-fil-A restaurants and serve as an Interim Manager for our Company-Operated Restaurants. During my two and a half years working with Chick-fil-A Inc. I was able to grow and hone my leadership.

I am honored to have the privilege to partner with Chick-fil-A as the Owner/Operator of my own Restaurant in Bartonsville, Pennsylvania that will be opening in the fall of 2018.

They say “choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”. I don’t agree completely, but I do believe if you are doing something you love you will ultimately yield more success and a better quality of life. The restaurant business is a natural fit for my personality. I love having unpredictable days, being able to be innovative and creative when facing challenges, achieving goals together with a team, team building, impacting others’ lives, systems, relationships, results, and fast paced work environment. I think the part I enjoy most about the restaurant is the time I get to spend with my teams. Watching and actively investing in others from a leadership perspective is highly fulfilling for me.
